2019 Nissan Kicks: First Look

We take you through the bits and bobs of the India-spec Nissan Kicks

When we first saw the Nissan Kicks in October, there was a lot to be excited about. This compact SUV has a lot riding on its shoulders, after all. But, while Nissan showed us how the India-spec Kicks would look from the outside, they ensured none of us got a sneak peek into the interiors. What they also kept tightly under wraps, was the feature list. Now though, we’re driving the Kicks, and we can share some pictures. Let’s take you through what caught our eye:

The Kicks is a compact SUV, built on the same platform as the Renault Duster and the Captur.

Here's a closer look at the blacked-out LED projector headlamps. Note the low-set positioning of the foglamps.

Dual-tone alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60R17 rubber — same as the Renault Captur.

Our media car also has a boot lip protector with 'Kicks' embossing. Neat! Also, notice the lack of variant badging.

400-litres of bootspace. Not class-leading, but spacious nonetheless. Captur = 392 litres.

A first for this segment, and Nissan! 360° view camera. That means there's a camera on the grille...

...one each under the wing mirrors.....

...and one tucked away above the number plate.

The dashboard looks similar to the global-spec Kicks. There’s soft-touch leather here, and double stitching too!

Brown + black is a refreshing combo. Notice the carbon fibre-like detailing around the start-stop button

But, there’s a lot shared with the Duster / Captur duo. Does this ring any bells?

Power window switches have been borrowed from the Captur as well

Automatic climate control interface has been re-skinned to suit the Kicks’ interior. This will be offered as standard.

The stalks too are a direct lift from Renault SUVs

Driver’s seat is manually adjustable for height

Here’s a look at the instrument cluster. The basic layout is identical to the Captur, with a MID in the centre.

Take a look at the meaty leather-wrapped steering wheel

The piece de resistance. 8-inch touchscreen. Comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There's leather upholstery to be had, too! The quilted pattern looks premium!

Quick look at the rear bench. Central armrest features two cupholders.

Rear air-con vents for the occupants. Additional 12V positioned at the bottom.

Rear door can house a small bottle and some knick-knacks. Notice leather upholstery on the elbow rest.

Engine options: 106PS 1.5-litre petrol, and 110PS 1.5-litre diesel. Petrol gets 5-speed manual, whereas diesel gets a 6-speed gearbox. No automatic transmission for now.
