Honda has a reputation for building insane bikes and scooters since a very long time. After Honda was convinced by their design team which is based out of Italy, the X-ADV took shape. The X-ADV concept was showcased at the 2015 EICMA and now the Japenese bikemaker has unveiled the production version of the same adventure scooter at the ongoing 2016 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The Honda X-ADV is an adventure crossover scooter based on the 'City Adventure' concept. Thus the scooter gets a sturdy frame and a tall stance which Honda has claimed will give it ‘off-road ready attitude’.
Mechanically, the adventure scooter is powered by a 745cc parallel twin engine which makes around 54.34 PS of power and 68 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) which means that the scooter will change gears by itself with its ECU selecting lower gear ratios in D mode. Additionally, there are three levels of S mode which allows the rider to experience a sportier performance and then you have the MT mode, which allows manual gear changing.
It also features spoked 17 inch wheel in front and 15 inch at the rear giving it more off-road capabilities. This scooter also gets 41 mm upside-down forks up front with 153.5 mm of travel and adjustable rear shock with 150 mm of travel. It has a 21 litre under-seat storage space and a fuel tank with a capacity of 13 liters.
Speaking more about the feature list, the X-ADV favours an upright riding position (seat height - 820mm) for high visibility, a 5-stage adjustable windscreen, LED headlights with DRLs, adjustable seat, tapered aluminium handlebar, Africa Twin hand guards, Rally-style instrument display, center stand and a Smart Key system.
Once launched, the Honda X-ADV will first hit the European and North American shores, but, for India, the chances are very unlikely.
