Audi has taken the wraps off the R8 V10 Plus supercar at the 2016 Auto Expo

In this day and age, cars are all about weight reduction, may it be with the intention of extracting maximum performance or even for better fuel efficiency. The Audi R8 V10 Plus is no different. In this second generation R8, Audi has modified the platform of the first-generation R8 into a Modular Sports System thanks to which the Audi R8 now weighs 45kg less than its predecessor. In fact, the new R8 even shares some of its underpinnings with the Lamborghini Huracan; of course with a few tweaks to offer a bit more space and comfort.

In the looks department, the new R8 V10 Plus is sharper and more aggressive than before, much like all the new-age Audi offerings. Although it retains the same overall silhouette and its design doesn’t quite scream the future of sports cars, there is no denying the fact that the R8 is still a superb looking car. The hexagonal grille, sharp looking headlight design and the swooping roofline, all give the R8 a menacing look.

On the inside the Audi R8 V10 Plus comes with the ‘virtual cockpit’ much like the new TT. There is a large TFT monitor placed directly in front of the driver and the centrally mounted screen has been given the boot. Audi will also offers different interior options to choose from.

Riding behind the passenger compartment is a modified version of the 5.2-litre V10 engine. In this Plus guise, it churns out 618PS of peak power and 560Nm of torque, and can do the 0-100kmph dash in 3.2 seconds. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The Audi R8 V10 Plus will carry a sticker price of Rs 2.47 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai and Delhi).
