Seventh-place Finish For Jehan Daruvala At Jeddah’s Sprint Race

It’s a messy start to the second round of the 2022 Formula 2 season for Jehan Daruvala, as the Prema driver qualified a lowly 15th on the grid for the feature race at Jeddah. His teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver Dennis Hauger lines up 11th on the grid.
The 30-minute qualifying session itself was a mess all round with multiple incidents causing red flag stoppages. While Daruvala and Hauger did manage to set initial lap times good enough for 9th and 5th-fastest, refuelling wasn’t allowed during qualifying. Thus, neither of the Prema drivers had a chance to improve upon their lap times and dropped to 15th and 11th respectively.
Overall a very messy qualifying for the Indian driver, and since he did not qualify in the top ten positions, he’ll be starting 15th not only for Sunday’s 28-lap/173km feature race, but also for the 20-lap/123km sprint race on Saturday. So the Indian driver will have a lot of ground to make up over the race weekend.
The sprint race on Saturday will flag off at 6pm (IST). All races will be broadcast on Star Sports / Hotstar.
