Mercedes-Benz India is on the verge of introducing the 2024 GLS facelift, marking a significant upgrade for one of their flagship SUVs. The launch is scheduled for 8 January and pre-launch bookings are already underway. The new GLS will be available in two main trims: GLS 450 (petrol) and GLS 400d (diesel). For those eagerly awaiting the arrival of this opulent SUV, here are five essential details to look out for ahead of its introduction.

The exterior of the GLS receives a more muscular design, notably at the front with a prominent grille featuring four horizontal slats, giving it even more road presence. The bumper has been redesigned, showcasing reshaped intakes and side vents. Alloy wheels on the sides are refreshed, and the rear of the SUV sports a revised bumper and tweaked tail light insignia, contributing to a more dynamic and contemporary appearance.

Inside the cabin, the facelifted GLS’ dashboard layout is more or less similar to the outgoing car. However, Mercedes has introduced new trims and upholstery colors, enhancing the overall luxurious feel. However, the focus is on the technological advancements, with updates to the MBUX infotainment system. The off-road mode boasts revised graphics for gradient, lateral inclination, compass, and steering angle readouts. Additionally, a new transparent bonnet view function is introduced, utilizing the SUV's 360-degree camera setup.

The 2024 GLS is expected to be equipped with a plethora of features, including four-zone climate control, connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, a panoramic sunroof, a premium Burmester 3D surround sound system, a power-operated tailgate, and adjustable front seats. Safety features are likely to include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Just like its predecessor, the GLS will be available in two trims: GLS 450 (petrol) and GLS 400d (diesel). Both variants will feature a three-litre six-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology. Both variants will also come with all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Refer to the table below for a quick look at their specifications:
