Honda Cars India have officially commenced deliveries of its mass market hybrid car, the Honda City e:HEV. The highlight of the City e:HEV is of course underneath the hood. Honda has married a 109PS electric motor with a 98PS 1.5-litre petrol engine for a total combined output of 126PS. Power is sent through an e-CVT, driving the front wheels. The City hybrid predominantly drives in pure EV mode, with the petrol engine kicking in if you need that shove or to charge the battery.

The equipment list is largely similar to the standard City ZX. However, in the hybrid, you get ADAS (Sensing in Honda’s speak), which includes auto high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and collision avoidance braking system.

There are minor design changes too. The hybrid sedan gets bespoke housings for the front fog lamps, blue hues on the Honda logo to denote its cleaner nature, rear spoiler, and a diffuser in the rear bumper. All these are exclusive to the City e:HEV.
