The facelifted Kia Seltos has recently been revealed on our shores, and it’s the first midlife update for the car since its launch in August 2019. Pre-launch bookings are set to open on July 14 and its variant-wise details are out as well. And if you had your eyes on the turbo-petrol powertrain of the upcoming SUV, there’s some good news.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine in the facelifted Seltos will be offered in the mid-spec HTK+ trim, making it more accessible than before. For reference, in the outgoing model, the same with the naturally aspirated engine was priced at Rs 13.10 lakh. So Kia could demand a one-lakh premium over the same for the new turbo-petrol variant. Do note that in the mid-spec trim, you can get this engine with just the iMT; and for the automatic gearbox, you need to step up to HTX+ trim.

It’s also for the first time Kia is offering the Seltos’s turbo-petrol engine with the Tech Line trims and not just the sportier looking GT Line trims. Earlier, in the outgoing model, it was limited to just the GT Line trims. To know about the variant-wise powertrain options of the Seltos, check out this detailed report.

The Kia Seltos’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine puts out 160PS and 253Nm, and is paired with either a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It will be sold alongside the existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Take a look at the detailed specifications of the Seltos’s powertrains in this table below:

It will continue rivalling the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq as well as the upcoming Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross.
