In the latest edition of the Zig performance report, we lineup two hot models launched this year: the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Verna. Both models share similar underpinnings and get the same 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. So which one is quicker from 0-100kmph in our acceleration test?

As you can see in the table above, the Hyundai Verna managed to beat the Seltos in the 0-100kmph acceleration run by 0.75 seconds. The Verna’s sedan profile no doubt helped it to cut through the air quicker than the more upright Seltos.

However, when it comes to roll-on acceleration, it’s the Kia that’s quicker than the Hyundai by 0.47 seconds. Since they both sport the same engine we think this difference is down to a different tune to their engines and gearbox setup. Still they are slim gaps and marginal differences.
