Citroen has officially entered the mass market SUV coupe space in India with the launch of the Basalt. However, standing out in this segment won’t be easy, as Tata is set to launch the Curvv on September 2, 2024. Considering either of the two SUV-coupes? We simplified the process for you by comparing both models against each other in terms of their specifications. Check it out.

The Basalt falls significantly short in the features department compared to the Curvv. Tata’s SUV-coupe offers a larger infotainment system and digital driver's display, with modern-day equipment like a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, and a 9-speaker branded audio system. Additionally, the Curvv also boasts feel-good features and design touches like a panoramic sunroof, larger wheels, and flush door handles, adding a stylish touch to its design.
Coming on to their powertrain specifications, the Curvv offers both petrol and diesel engine options. In contrast, the Basalt provides only petrol-powered options but includes choices between naturally aspirated and turbocharged units.
Detailed powertrain specifications of both the Curvv and Basalt are listed below.

If you want a punchy turbo-petrol engine, then the Curvv’s unit will be more suited to your needs. It also gets a 120PS turbo petrol engine, which boasts more power than the Basalt’s engine, but less torque. But if you want a smooth NA-petrol engine for your city runabouts, then the Basalt offers you the choice of a NA petrol engine, but it only gets a manual transmission.
Citroen has launched the Basalt with prices ranging between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata, on the other hand, will announce the prices for the Curvv on September 2, 2024, but we expect them to start from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
So while we are comparing the two SUV-coupes, they can’t be considered as direct rivals, especially because the top end pricing of the Tata Curvv will be much higher than that of the Basalt.
Besides competing with each other, both will provide an SUV coupe alternative to cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
