This is the new Porsche 911 Carrera T, which slots bang in between the base 911 and 911 Carrera S. T in Porsche’s lingo stands for Touring, and the sports carmaker says this variant “offers a purist driving experience with exceptionally sporty equipment”.

Well, we can definitely agree to the purist bit, as what powers this variant gets the 385PS, 3-litre, flat six, twin-turbo mill from the standard car, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed stick shifter. If you do manage to launch it properly, this 911 will take you from 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds, before maxing out at 291kmph.

To ensure power is put down to the road properly, the 911 T gets a mechanical rear differential lock from the Carrera S which directs power to the wheel with maximum grip. And for better agility, you can, on request, opt for rear-wheel steering, which is reserved for variants from Carrera S and above.

The 911 Carrera T also has gone through a weight loss regime as its 1470 figure is 35kg lighter than the base trim with the eight-speed automatic. This is thanks to the removal of rear seats, reduced insulation, a light weight battery and glass.

Of course, it goes without saying the 911 T gets its bespoke design touches, and grey seems to be the theme here. The wheels, ORVMs, logos, and the trim strips over the LED tail lamps are finished in varying shades of grey. And on the inside, the sports coupe gets an all-black interior with plenty of gloss black inserts.

The 911 Touring should make it to our shores soon considering that Porsche imports its cars here. At present, the 911 range is priced between Rs 1.72 crore and Rs 3.13 crore (ex-showroom).
