News about the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been dim for a while after its debut at Auto Expo 2020. The carmaker earlier also expressed that it was facing hurdles to launch the SUV. However, things are finally steaming up as Shashank Srivastava, Maruti’s Executive Director, has confirmed that plans are being finalised for the Jimny’s India launch.
Srivastava said, “We will finalise our plans for the Jimny very shortly. We have collected very good feedback. We will look at possible specs, pricing, and timing of launch.”

The Jimny debuted at the Auto Expo 2020, but that isn’t likely to be the final spec as the India spec is likely the larger 5-door version. This means a revision of its design, and it might not look as cool as the three-door SUV, but the five-door model with its extra set of doors will prove to be a whole lot more practical for daily usage.
Globally, the Jimny gets the 102PS 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, and that’s what the India-spec model could get. A low range transfer case is also present for when the going gets tough.
