Facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLA Launched, Entry-level Merc SUV Crosses The Rs 50 Lakh Barrier

The second new Mercedes for 2024 is here – though it’s not exactly “new” – with the launch of the GLA facelift at an introductory price of Rs 50.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The mid-life update brings small cosmetic tweaks to the exterior and interior styling, a few feature additions, but the same powertrain options. Just like before, there are two guises on offer – Progressive Line and AMG Line (diesel only). Bookings are open and here’s a lowdown on the facelifted entry-level Mercedes SUV:

2024 Mercedes GLA price

Prices of the 2024 Mercedes GLA facelift have been upped over the outgoing model. The starting price is now Rs 50.50 lakh, Rs 2.1 lakh more than the outgoing model.The top-spec AMG Line trim is priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom)

2024 Mercedes GLA facelift design

Don’t change what works, right? That’s the philosophy Mercedes has applied for this facelift. The outlines of the grille, the headlights, the bumpers and the overall silhouette is quite the same as the outgoing model. Only some slight refining has been done here and there, to make the GLA look slightly fresher than before. 

The headlight and DRL design has been tweaked for both the trims along with a mildly revised apron design. The Progressive line, however, gets vertical lines within the grille in contrast to the star-studded elements on the outgoing model, which are now an AMG Line signature.

In profile, there are new 18-inch alloys for the Progressive Line and 19-inch 5-spoke star-shaped alloys for the AMG Line. The rear, too, is untouched, save for the miniscule tweaks to the taillights and the elements within it. 

There are five colours on offer, including a new Spectral Blue hue. All shades are monotones.

The facelifted GLA gets the same dashboard design, but changes have been made to the central console. The touchpad has been deleted, which makes way for additional storage space. 

Slight cosmetic inserts differentiate the Progressive and AMG line, which can be seen in the trim-specific steering wheel, slightly different design for the aircon vents, and the trim insert on the dashboard.

New features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto high beam assist, a 360-degree camera, keyless entry, powered tailgate with gesture control, and a blind spot assist. Features like the dual 10.25-inch screens, cruise control, ambient lighting, and electric front seats with memory function have been carried over as it is. 

The safety kit includes seven airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), run-flat tyres, autonomous emergency braking, and the usual suite of electronic aids like ABS with EBD, and traction control. Hill descent control is limited to the diesel variant.

While the powertrain powertrain options for the GLA facelift remain the same, there have been small tweaks to the power figures, which have seen a 2PS drop for both the petrol and diesel engine.
