In today’s edition of us bringing something before everyone else, it’s news about some upcoming Bajaj bikes. Bajaj has just trademarked four names: Bajaj Trekker, Bajaj Marathon, Bajaj Glider and Bajaj Freedom. The status of three of these trademarks are listed as ‘Accepted’ or ‘Accepted and Advertised’ meaning the Trekker, Marathon and Glider are most likely to be the final names of the upcoming vehicles. The Bajaj Freedom’s status is listed as ‘Marked For Exam’, meaning it has been assigned to an examiner to determine if it could be trademarked.

So, here’s what we think about the upcoming bikes sporting those names. The Bajaj Trekker will most likely be an ADV based on the Bajaj Pulsar F250 and Pulsar N250’s platform. The 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine is already a torquey one and could be further tweaked to make it better suited to handle trails and off-road terrain. That said, the engine isn’t very highway friendly so Bajaj will have to look into that too, if they’re thinking about an ADV. If the bike comes to fruition, the Suzuki V-Strom SX and the KTM 250 Adventure will have a new rival.

Another motorcycle spawning off the 250cc platform, according to us, is the Bajaj Freedom. It will likely be a 250cc cruiser with revised styling compared to the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise’s outdated styling. Maybe shortly after the Freedom’s launch, that styling might trickle down to the Avenger lineup as well with some wholesome updates.

We expect the Bajaj Glider to be a sports tourer based on the Bajaj Dominar 400. In other words, a faired sibling of the power cruiser. The Bajaj Marathon, though, could be a three-wheeler offering from the manufacturer. Or it could also be the upcoming CNG bike from Bajaj Auto. Given the name, it will likely go to a workhorse of a bike and either of those make sense. What we do know is that Bajaj Auto is launching the CNG bike in the next few months. So, whether it’ll be called the Marathon will be interesting to see.

But all of these will take a while, because what’s coming out of Bajaj’s factory the soonest is the biggest capacity Pulsar. Expected to be called the Bajaj Pulsar NS400, it will be launched between April and June 2024. It is expected to get the Dominar 400’s engine and to be based on the Bajaj Pulsar NS200’s perimeter chassis.
