BREAKING NEWS: Kinetic DX Electric Scooter Launched In India

Quick Read:

  • The new Kinetic electric scooter has been launched

  • Gets tons of features and has the largest underseat storage

  • Available in 2 variants: ZX and DX+

  • Deliveries will begin in September 2025

Kinetic is back and with a bang! The manufacturer has launched its brand-new DX electric scooter. Inspired by the two-stroke screamer from the 1990s, it makes a comeback in an electric avatar. After the e-Luna, unveiling the new and revamped DX is the next logical step. While the brand had a few affordable e-scooters, there was no visual distinction from the Chinese ones. This is their first EV specifically for India, and it makes a lot of sense to use the legacy of the DX. Let’s have a look at what the new electrified version has to offer:

Inspired By The OG

The new Kinetic DX’s design has been heavily inspired by the OG petrol-powered two-stroke DX scooter. It has a similar-looking horizontal headlight but in an LED avatar, Kinetic logo on the windscreen, and three-spoke alloy wheels. The switchgear is similar too, as the new DX gets a square-shaped start button for the scooter. With 5 colour options available (White, Black, Red, Blue and Silver), the overall design of the scooter is quite good and modern.

Battery, Motor and Range

  • Battery Capacity: 2.5kWh

  • Claimed Range: 116km in the DX+ and 102km in the DX

  • Charging Speed: 0-50 % in 2 hours, 0-80% in 3 hours and 0-100% in 4 hours

  • Motor: BLDC hub-mounted motor

  • Power: 4.8kW in the DX+ and 4.7kW in the DX

  • Claimed top speed: 90kmph and 80kmph in the DX+ and DX respectively

Kinetic DX Electric Scooter

On paper, the new electric Kinetic looks quite promising. With a decent claimed range that should be enough for most people, a powerful motor with a top speed that is just about enough to ride on highways, the e-scooter is on par with its modern-day rivals such as the Honda QC1, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak and the Ola S1 X.

Underpinnings

  • Wheels: 12-inch alloys

  • Brakes: Disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear

  • Suspension: Telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers

  • Underseat Storage: 37 litres

  • Ground clearance: 165mm

Just like how Chetak continued having the metal body in its electric scooter, Kinetic also follwed the same footsteps by offering metal body in the DX.  What sets the Kinetic DX apart from the rest of its rivals is the huge underseat storage space it comes with. The manufacturer claims that it's the only scooter in the entire world which will be able to fit a full-face and a half-face helmet together.

The features list on the Kinetic DX is quite extensive. But do note, all the 'Telekinetic' connected features are exclusive to the DX+ variant of the scooter. Although with a long list of features, it does miss out on a crucial few, which would have made the riding experience a whole lot more seamless, such as a TFT console with navigation.

Final Thoughts

With the base DX variant coming in at Rs 1,11,499 and the top-end DX+ variant priced at Rs 1,17,499 (both prices ex-showroom, Pune), the scooter is not affordable as such. Sure, it gets a warranty of 3 years or 30,000km, which can be extended to 9 years or 1,00,000km, but it lacks features that its rivals at a much affordable price tag provide (Vida VX2 anyone?).
