BluArmor has launched their flagship helmet intercom system C50Pro at Rs 24,999. Unlike (almost) every other intercom unit, this mounts at the back of the helmet.
The C50Pro does a whole lot for the size it comes in. First off, it comes with two mounts: a ‘Magdock’ and a standard dock. Both the mounts use a magnetic docking system to mount the unit in place, and connect to the audio units. While the ‘standard’ is a run-of-the-mill, non-fancy mount, the MagDock will have all eyes on you, quite literally. Customisable LED lights flank the unit, and can be used to increase rider visibility in the dark. However, the C50’s inertial measurement unit is a game-changer. It allows these lights to work as additional braking lights, and even as emergency braking lights, using the deceleration data from the IMU.
If you are now wondering how to operate the C50 while on the move, BluArmor has you covered in two ways. One is a side-mounted button cluster, with which you can operate as business usual. The second option is a 5-way Bluetooth joystick that can be mounted on the handlebar. This will let you operate the C50 without having to take your hands off the handlebar. Though how effective it is, is something we can only test when we review the unit in the real-world conditions.
In the interest of not elongating this story, let’s quickly gloss over some of its other features: modular connections to its audio peripherals, IP67 rated, magnetic USB C charging port, multi-device connectivity, two-level wind noise reduction, automatic SOS alerts, music sharing over intercom grid, intercom over cloud (similar to a voice call over data), and seamless auto-switching between radio intercom and cloud intercom.
With the new C50Pro, BluArmor has the more expensive intercom units from the likes of Sena and Cardo in their sights. On paper, the C50Pro looks very promising and we can’t wait to review it in the real world.
The BluArmor C50Pro is priced at Rs 24,999. However, if you have previously owned the BluArmor C30, you can trade it in during the launch offer (which is valid till September 1, 2024) and get the C50Pro for Rs 11,000, making it an excellent value. BluArmor claims they will start shipping C50 from the end of September 2024.
