Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2024 Tucson, which marks the first facelift of the current iteration model, in Europe. When you see both models side by side, you may notice minor changes on the exterior, but there are major revisions in the interior compared to the current model. Here are 5 things that differentiate the new Tucson from the current Tucson sold in India.
At first glance, the 2024 Tucson maintains an overall familiar design, but it features a more squared-off grille with a new LED DRL setup. Additionally, it gets a revised bumper with a fresh skid plate. In profile, you get new alloy wheels in the 2024 Tucson and there are no sheet metal changes – it still continues to have sharp and aggressive lines, giving an overall sporty look. Hyundai has not revealed the rear-end of the 2024 Tucson but the carmaker says it will feature a revised bumper.
Inside, the 2024 Tucson has received a major update, which boasts a new dashboard design with dual integrated screens for the infotainment system and digital driver’s display. It also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel, which now also houses the gear selector behind it. It. We have not yet received the feature list for the 2024 Tucson, but it should continue to be equipped with ventilated and heated front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a multi-speaker Bose sound system, and connected car tech.
On the safety front, it should get ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold and descent control, all-wheel disc brakes and ADAS which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance assist, and rear cross traffic alert.
Hyundai has not revealed the engine specifications of the 2024 Tucson, but it will likely be powered by similar powertrain options, including hybrid engines, globally. On our shores, you have the choice of a 156PS 2-litre petrol or a 186PS 2-litre diesel engine with the current Tucson. The petrol is paired with a 6-speed automatic, while the diesel is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
We expect the facelifted Tucson to command a significant premium over the current model when it is launched sometime in 2024. In terms of pricing, the current Tucson starts from Rs 29.02 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with models like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass.
