As is the case outside, the new hatchback will undergo a complete overhaul on the inside too

So far we’ve only had small snippets of what the next iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will look like. Now, a video has surfaced, revealing the new hatchback’s cabin from all angles ahead of its launch on November 10.

At a glance, the new Celerio has been given as much of an overhaul on the inside than on the outside. The cabin is all black, with the most visible change being the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The addition of the touchscreen also means the centre AC vents get a different, more vertical-oriented design which blends well with the touchscreen infotainment system. Move over to the driver’s side and there’s steering mounted controls, and a new instrument cluster that’s borrowed from the Wagon R. Look closer, and even the side AC vents have become a bit more modern.

Another major addition in the Celerio is a segment-first passive keyless entry with push button start/stop. Below the infotainment system, you’ll notice front power window switches, which is an unusual position, likely done to cut costs. In fact, even the rear power window switches have been weirdly repositioned on the centre console, which might make usability a little tricky unless you’re using your toes to operate them.

The new Celerio is set to get the 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet Dual VVT petrol engine with the segment-first idle start-stop technology, as well as retain the current model’s 68PS 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Transmission options should include a 5-speed manual and an AMT option. An CNG option paired with the 1-litre petrol engine could also be on the cards.

Bookings for the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio are open for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Expect the new hatchback to be priced from Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and rival the Hyundai Santro, Datsun GO, Tata Tiago and the Maruti WagonR.
