Citroen India might have been off to a slightly slow start with just one premium and pricey car, the C5 Aircross. The French carmaker is now gearing up to launch its second offering, the C3, a mass market hatchback. During the unveiling event, the carmaker has revealed the fact that it’s planning to speed things up by introducing two new models in 2023, including an EV!.

During the product presentation, the two new models for India will be an India-specific EV and another model that’s based on Citroen’s C Cubed program which debuted with the C3. The former is expected to be an electrified version of the C3 hatchback. Plus, this platform will be able to support multiple body styles and powertrain options, giving Citroen a wide variety of options.

Since the C3 is a heavily localised model, you can expect their future offering to boast high levels of localisation, thus more competitive pricing. For example, the C3 hatchback, which is an India-specific product, boasts close to 95 percent of localisation. Also, the carmaker can now share and borrow resources from Jeep, which is under the Stellantis umbrella.

Coming back to the C3, pre-launch bookings will begin from July 01 while prices are set to be announced on July 20. It’s expected to start from around Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, and Tata Tiago.
