Renault India has quite expectedly announced CNG powertrain options for all of their cars on our shores. They currently have the Kwid, Kiger and Triber on sale now and all three will get standard retrofitted CNG kits right from the factories. That said, all the variants of the cars except for the turbo engines and the automatics will get the CNG fitment and you’ll need to pay a premium of Rs 75,000 for the Kwid and Rs 79,500 for the Kiger and Triber.
This greener move by Renault will be implemented in a phased manner meaning it will be extended to key states like Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat for the starter and then to the other parts of the country later on.
While Renault has not announced the output figures with the CNG kits, you can expect slightly reduced outputs than the usual powertrain.
Here’s a quick look at the standard engine options of the Renault Kwid, Kiger and Triber:

The Renault Kwid is a hatchback competing with the likes of the Maruti Alto K10 and Maruti S-Presso. Among these, both the Alto K10 and S-Presso offer factory-fitted CNG options.
The Renault Kiger, a sub-4m SUV from the French automaker, rivals the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, and the upcoming Kia Syros. Among these, the Brezza and Nexon offer factory-fitted CNG kits.
The Renault Triber, a compact MPV, competes against the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and Kia Carens. The Ertiga and XL6 are available with CNG options.
This move seems to be a smarter consideration for Renault to expand their foothold in India. Extending a CNG fitment not only ensures more affordability to buyers but it also lifts the brand’s commitment towards a more eco-friendly move.
