[UPDATE: The new Bajaj Chetak C25 electric scooter has been launched and here's all you need to know about it.]

We got to know that Bajaj might kick off 2026 with an electrifying start with the launch of a new Chetak electric scooter, possibly around mid-January. Affordability will be the keyword at play here, and in fact, a cheaper version of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was already spotted circa October this year, and this will most likely be the model Bajaj aims to launch. Think of it as Bajaj’s response to the TVS Orbiter.

Consequently, it will have all the necessary ‘pocket-friendly’ bits including a simpler hub motor, telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorber, and a floorboard-mounted battery pack. Expect a fairly decent range of 100km or thereabouts. The test mule also had a somewhat similar design (but with a few tweaks here and there) as the other Chetak electric scooter, so it’s certain that Bajaj will continue to play the retro card. Afterall, Chetak is the name for the brand’s all-things-EV.

The underseat storage space might be a bit smaller, and we reckon Bajaj might just use fibre panels to keep the weight down and range up. The brand might also use a relatively simpler console with less bells and whistles. We all know Bajaj has a knack for making extremely cost-effective products. While the current Chetak range is already affordable with prices starting from just about a lakh rupees, we reckon this one will go further down to the 80,000-rupee mark (ex-showroom). This should help the brand fend off competition from not only the TVS Orbiter, but also the Hero Vida VX2 range.
