Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Latest Updates

The newest member of the Pulsar family, the NS125 has received its first price hike of Rs 4,544. For the complete price list, head to our main story.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Engine

Powering the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is a downsized version of the NS160’s 160.3cc engine. You get a brand new 124.45cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve SOHC unit that makes 12PS at 8500rpm and 11Nm at 7000rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. This new motor is housed in the traditional perimeter frame found on all Pulsar NS models. It seems that the slim telescopic fork, skinny tyres, and braking hardware have been lifted straight off the regular Pulsar 125, while the monoshock sourced from the NS160.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Design

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 follows the same design ethos as its other NS siblings. The same wolf-inspired headlamp, muscular tank, chunky body, and split-seat setup make their way into the NS125. However, blame it on the skinny tyres and a slim telescopic fork, the proportions of the bike do not seem quite right.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Features

Features on the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 are scanty. There’s no LED headlight or a full-digital dash. Even the semi-digital console misses out on the range indicator and gear position indicator. The halogen headlight and LED tail light are pretty much identical to the NS160 and NS200.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Competitors

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is a sportier and more youthful alternative to the regular Pulsar 125. In the 125cc space, it is dearer than the Hero Glamour 125, BS6 Honda Shine, and Honda SP125. However, while these are primarily commuter-centric, the Pulsar NS125 is meant to be a performance-oriented learner’s bike. And in that sense, it is a lot more affordable than the more powerful and highly sophisticated KTM 125 Duke and RC 125, which are currently priced upwards of Rs 1.50 lakh.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Pulsar NS 125

Q. Which bike to choose, NS 125 or Hornet 2.0?
  • Selecting the right bike would depend on several factors such as your budget preference on the segment, features required, engine options, brand preference, etc. The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 follows the same design ethos as its other NS siblings. The same wolf-inspired headlamp, muscular tank, chunky body, and split-seat setup make their way into the NS125. Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 is powered by 124.4 cc engine. This Pulsar NS 125 engine generates a power of 11.99 PS @ 8500 rpm and a torque of 11 Nm @ 7000 rpm. On the other hand, the Honda Hornet 2.0 could prove to be an ideal choice if you are looking for a bike with a frugal engine, comfortable ride quality, and light handling. The Hornet 2.0 is powered by a 184cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that puts out 17.27PS at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm at 6,000rpm. Honda claims it has a healthy mid-range performance. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your city accordingly for dealership details.
Q. Can I upsize my Pulsar 125 rear tyre?
  • You may go for a big sized tyre but upsizing the size of a tyre is increasingly becoming an obsession with people to create an added visual appeal to their bike. Moreover, it is advisable to go for an upgrade anywhere between the 3% margin for better performance and handling, increased grip and creating a visual appeal. Do take note that upsizing the wheels and tyres may decrease the fuel efficiency of the bike and may result in a speedometer error on the bike if upsizing is not correct.
Q. What is the reserve fuel capacity of this bike?
  • In general, 10-12 percent of the overall fuel capacity is the reserved capacity of the vehicle. The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 features a 12 liters fuel tank and the reserved fuel capacity would be around 1.2- 1.4 liters.

Q. Which one is better pulsar NS125 or Honda Unicorn?
  • Selecting the right bike would depend on several factors such as your budget preference on the segment, features required, engine options, brand preference, etc. The Honda Unicorn has always been the go-to bike if you were planning to buy a 150cc commuter. The BS6 update has given the bike a larger motor while retaining the dynamics of the older bike. It still remains a well-rounded motorcycle, but the BS6 update has come with a hefty price hike. Honda Unicorn is powered by a 162.7 cc engine. This Unicorn engine generates a power of 12.91 PS @ 7500 rpm and a torque of 14 Nm @ 5500 rpm. • You may drive NS 125 for long rides but we wouldn't recommend taking the Bajaj NS 125 for long rides because, with a kerb weight of 144kg and an engine of 124.4cc, you may face difficulty. There are other risks also such as overheating etc. Though the bike will do the job nicely, long-term usage over such terrains might hamper engine health.
