Kawasaki KLX230R S

Kawasaki has launched the non-road legal KLX230R S in India. At a price of Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it is Rs 5,000 more affordable than the road legal 2026 KLX230, and uses the same engine and underpinnings.

Price: The Kawasaki KLX230R S is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design: The KLX230R S looks like a proper dirt-bike. It’s not road legal and misses out on a headlight, tail light and indicators. The fascia looks quite aggressive with a front beak, the side profile looks compact and the rear looks clean with a high mounted rear fender. It is available in a single colour option: Lime Green.

Features: It gets a basic instrument cluster, and misses out on a headlight, tail light and indicators. Being a proper dirt-bike it also misses out on ABS as well.

Engine: The KLX230R S gets the same engine as the road-going KLX230. A 233cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor which makes 19PS and 19Nm and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The bike gets a steel tube frame along with conventional telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. It gets 220mm of wheel travel at the front and 220mm of wheel travel at the rear. There is a 290mm front and a 230mm rear disc brake setup. The ground clearance is quite high at 270mm and the seat height is 900mm. The main highlight is the low kerb weight of the motorcycle at 129kg.

Rivals: The Kawasaki KLX230R S does not have any direct competitors in India.
