Hero XPulse 200 First Ride Review & More than an Impulse replacement

The new Hero MotoCorp XPulse 200 has been launched in India at a tempting price of Rs 97,000 for the carburetted version and Rs 1.05 Lakh for the fuel-injected version. Both versions of the XPulse - the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T - are mechanically identical and they also share all the goodies, such as the LED headlight, the fully-digital dash that features turn-by-turn navigation enabled by Bluetooth and accessible via the Hero RideGuide app, an underseat USB charger, single-channel ABS and more. The XPulse 200 promises to be the perfect entry-level off-road motorcycle for enthusiasts retaining the friendly approachability of the Impulse while offering a lot more capability through, both, its mechanical goodness and a host of features as well. It’s powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 18.4PS and 17.1Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed gearbox and, off the road, it aims to deliver stronger performance. It also inspires more confidence when ploughing through the rough stuff and is suitably equipped to take a beating, with kit such as an aluminium bash plate, knuckle protectors, a 21-/18-inch wheel combination and Ceat Gripp tyres with an off-road pattern. At present, the XPulse’s closest road-legal competitor in terms of off-road ability is the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is priced at Rs 1.78 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
