Pros and Cons

Mahindra XUV500

  • All variants are feature rich. Thanks to its large dimensions and muscular design it has a lot of road presence.

Tata Harrier 2019-2023

  • Road presence
  • True 5-seater
  • Best usable boot space in segment
  • Feature-laden
  • Torquey engine
  • Value-for-money now sporting ADAS.

Mahindra XUV500

  • Interior fit and finish isn’t the best. Third-row is cramped and with all seats up there is barely any luggage room left.

Tata Harrier 2019-2023

  • Still laggy and glitchey infotainment
  • Ergonomics could be better
  • Turbo-lag evident in the hills

Q. I am planing to buy new suv vehicle. XUV 500, Harrier or MG HECTOR PLUS which one is better for smooth and long drive
  • Hyundai Creta Diesel would be the best choice as per your requirements if number of seats doesn't matter. This 1.5 litre motor makes 115PS of power, which is 13PS down on the old engine, but while driving you hardly notice this fact. From the get-go, this engine impresses in terms of refinement and smoothness. There is very little turbo lag, which means gear shifts are kept to a minimum. This makes the Creta diesel-manual a stress-free car to drive in the city. Even out on the highway, the punchy nature of this engine makes overtaking easy and thanks to the tall gearring, it cruises in a relaxed manner too. The light clutch and slick gearbox makes your life even easier. In our performance tests, the Creta diesel registered decent times. In the 0-100kmph run, it took 12.24 seconds, which is a bit longer than the old car. But thanks to the good drivability, in-gear times were actually much better, with 30-80kmph in third taking 6.85s seconds. If we talk about MG Hector Plus, it is spacious, delivers better power performance and comes in 6-seater configuration. The 170PS, 350Nm diesel is a punchy motor and feels at home both in the city and on the highway. Sound and vibration levels are kept in check and while it is not the most refined version of the Fiat-sourced engine we have driven, it won’t leave you complaining either. Overtakes in the city are handled with ease and the motor proves to be plenty tractable as well. However, the gear shifts are a bit clunky and take a conscious effort to shift. Plus, the clutch is a bit heavy and will make you regret missing leg day in bumper to bumper traffic (if such a thing exists anymore). And then there is a tendency to stall while applying the throttle after overcoming a minor undulation. If we talk about XUV500, it offers good balance of power performance and driveabilit. As far as NVH levels are concerned, they are well controlled and the engine noise is only audible in the cabin when revved beyond 2,500 rpm. However, the same cannot be said for the Bridgestone Ecopia tyres which emit a lot of rolling noise with some of it making its way inside cabin. But that still isn’t bothersome and can be washed away with the audio system. Its clutch pedal is light, its long travel range will be irksome when driving in stop-and-go traffic. There is no hint of wobble or nervousness while taking curves at speeds north of 70kmph. It’s agile for its size, but while its steering is fairly accurate, it doesn’t provide great feel. The ride on the bigger wheels felt sporty but not stiff at any point. That said, the tendency of the XUV’s back end to feel bouncy over sharp bumps still remains. You may compare all these cars accordingly. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
  • Harrier 7 seater ( safari) first option which looks bigger on road and Hector plus looks better in interiors with same performance as Harrier. No Xuv please.
  • I don't know about others but don't buy XUV 500.. unreliable vehicle

Q. Should I wait for XUV500 2021 or buy Tata Harrier?
  • Mahindra has announced the launch of new XUV500 in the early 2021. The SUV is expected to get a redesigned tailgate, revamped interior with a touchscreen integrated with the instrument cluster, more upright nose, the 7-slat grille, etc. If you are not in a hurry to get your hand on behind wheels, then you may wait for the launch and see how the SUV turns out. On the other hand, Tata Harrier is a strong proposition if you are looking for a feature-laden SUV with a spacious cabin, butch looks and a great value for money spent. Tata Harrier is the best choice in the sub-Rs 20 lakh price bracket if you are looking for all the aforementioned traits. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - Tata Harrier vs Hyundai Creta vs Jeep Compass: Comparison Review

    Decent Car

It's a decent vehicle, although it can be a bit cumbersome for city driving on occasion. It provides a fuel economy of approximately 13-14 kilometers per liter in the city and 17 kilometers per liter on the highway. The only significant issue I've encountered is a power loss caused by modulator failure, which incurred a cost of around 3k, including labor. The vehicle has comfortable seats and ample space, although the last row is quite cramped. If you use the last row, there won't be any room left for luggage. The suspension is notably subpar. The infotainment system encountered early failures, and the repair or replacement costs are substantial. Additionally, there were some metal fatigue noises experienced on hilly roads. Overall, it's a decent vehicle if you take good care of it.

    Elegance Meets Thrilling Performance

The argument why I like this model is because of. Because of this model's, I've a strong preference for it. With its satisfying combination of indulgence and energy, the Tata Harrier seizes the limelight. The possibilities for an SUV are expanded by its brash demeanour and opulent innards. Both the Harrier's improved features and on- road interpretation are top- notch. This model has won my heart because of the inflexibility it provides, whether it's around grabbing concentration or keeping a road. This vehicle is a demonstration of the craftsmanship of its producer. A masterpiece is likewise a functional and dependable vehicle.
