Q. I am planning to buy my first bike. My shortlisted choices are very small Vulcan S650 and Versys 650. Considering Indian road conditions, which bike would you recommend me? My budget is around 6.5 lakhs INR. Any other options are also welcome.
  • These are entirely different types of bikes - Cruiser and Semi ADV. Secondly Versys is more expensive and it isn’t available for Rs 6.5 Lac (assuming you are not buying a used one). I paid Rs 7.08 Lac for Vulcan itself (Bengaluru). Both are big bikes. Versys is a little more gigantic/bulky than Vulcan making it difficult to be a daily commuter. Vulcan May be slightly better on this aspect, but it has a pathetic 130 mm ground clearance which makes it somewhat difficult to ride over speed bumps and potholes in Cities. But Versys is a better All-rounder compared to Vulcan since it has some off-roading capability. If you are ok with the might/bulk of Versys and its higher Price, Versys May be a better choice.( I wanted Cruiser, so I chose Vulcan ).However, if your rides are a good combination of daily commute and touring, Z650 and Ninja650 are better options compared to Versys and Vulcan.
  • Yes.. You can either install an Aftermarket exhaust or get ‘fork raisers’ installed.. Since I live in Bengaluru where cops seem to be very strict about aftermarket exhausts ( and also due to these exhausts being very expensive ), I got ‘fork raisers’ installed which raise the frame by a couple of inches thereby increasing the ground clearance by about an inch..Note that these fork raisers are not some standard accessories you can buy.. These were fabricated and installed at a workshop owned by a member of one of the riding clubs, so you need to check if such fabrication and installation can be done by someone in your city..
  • Hi,I would suggest you to decide priority and need first .Every segmented bike have different purpose .Versys meant to be for off touring purpose including some off road capabilities.Vulcun is good for city ride and for daily commuting but sometimes it will create problem as ground clearance is not so good.Ninja 650 is a good sports tourer with comfortably adjusted upright clip on handlebar also you can enjoy weekend rides in city as well as on highway.Decide what you want take test ride of all the bikes and choose accordingly

    Very comfortable, reliable

Very comfortable, Reliable and plenty of power to cruise at highway speeds.I've put 5000miles on mine in the first year just chain maintenance and oil changes and the bike will run forever. It has lots of low end torque so off the line this bike moves but if you cruising at 70 mph mostly any other parallel twin naked bike will leave you in the dust. But that fine with me this bake checks all the boxes and it looks good as well for the price.

    Reliable cruiser

Most reliable cruiser.Solid, High quality frame and parts as expected from kawasaki.Having a forward placed parallel twin engine, There is minimum heat felt around the thighs giving it more advantage over the popular v twin engine cruisers. Also parallel twin reduces the vibration of the vehicle, Elongating the life of all the parts.Engine mapping could have been improved as it is still sporty like the other models of kawasaki fitting with the same 650cc engine. The bike always seems to be in an accelerated mode and never seems to settle down at cruising speeds between 100 to 125 kmps.Having listed the pros here are few cons too: poor ground clearance due to bulky catalytic converter and long wheel base.Uninteresting exhaust note.Expensive spare parts. In my opinion: the most practical and reliable cruiser that is available in india at the moment if it is within the buyer's budget.

    Exhaust sound

After a 2000 km ride and much more experience with Vulcan S bike. I am surprised by its performance. It is quick and fast for a cruiser. It is a sportbike with a cruiser body. Because it is an expensive bike. I just wish it has more features like riding modes etc. Builds quality is awesome. I can't feel the vibration at all. It's heavy, but again because of the low seat height. You cannot feel the weight. The con side of the bike is that I hate the exhaust sound, and there are very limited accessories in India. The maintenance is high.

    powered by great performance

The KTM RC 200 is a great choice for new riders or those wabted a sporty street bike that offers a thrilling ride . It provides a good balance between performance and comfort, making it suitable for daily rides and occasional spirited rides. It has a mileage around 30-35 kmpl in the city and up to 40 kmpl on the highway. which is decent The RC 200 has a claimed top speed of over 140 kmph. However it is not perfect for long rides.

The Balance of Power and Agility

Six months ago, I decided to upgrade to the KTM RC 200 from an older commuter bike and I must say, it was a worthwhile decision. The RC 200 offers a robust performance with its 199.5 cc engine that churns out 25 horsepower effortlessly merging power with agility. It is particularly impressive on highway stretches and handles with remarkable precision all thanks to its well designed chassis and suspension. The bike runs on the hotter side specially in stop and go traffic which can be a bit of an annoyance in India's already sweltering climates.

    powered by great performance

I tested KTM RC 200 recently as ir is my brothers bike . So i share my experience. The KTM RC 200 is a supersport bike known for its aggressive looks, sharp handling, and punchy performance in the 200cc class. Whenever i ride its mileage is around 35 kmpl and it changes when my brother drive it . The milage generally depends on the riding way . However, the RC 200 offers decent fuel efficiency in its class.

    It's been 2 years since I

It's been 2 years since i brought this bike.Let me get to it straight because i am not going to talk about specs.Good: 1.Bike quality is high enough for the price.(i had met with few accidents but still i am going to appreciate about the build quality, Only minor scratches.) 2.Rider comfort improved from previous gen model.3.The new aerodynamic design improved more stability during corning because of closed front design.Trust me i had driven old rc too, The sharp front improves the initial but can't hold stable while corners especially against counter winds.(you can test drive) 4.About service -good, People are friendly and cost is avg.Bad: 1.The mileage, Of course we shouldn't complain about it because of high compression ratio engine. My avg.Speed 60 - 80 on highways i get around 38 - 40 kmpl sometimes. But in city traffic only 30 - 35.But not always the same.It depends upon each one's driving style.2.I got problems with ecu and fuel- pump within 8 months, After one year i got problem with battery and rear abs got failure. At that time my total km was just 4200 approx.Yeah i don't drive long so small kms. This is my review from my side. The best thing of this bike is "the power it produce".If you ask me whether to buy or not then i would say it depends on your wish.In this segment, There are also good bikes like this one for example: 1.Yamaha r15 v4.2.Mt-15.3.Pulsar rs 200.4.Pulsar ns 200.5.Duke 200.(has same specs but minor changes)remember, Each bike has it's own pro's and con's.None of them is superior then others."choose from your heart, Not from others opinions"don't forget to wear proper riding gearsride safe!.
