EL01 Key Highlights
Price: The production iteration of the EL01 concept is expected to be priced around the Rs 1 lakh mark. It could be launched by March 2026.
Design: The EL01 gets a very family-friendly design with smooth body panels, a spacious floorboard and long wheelbase. The concept scooter gets a blacked-out headlamp cowl, and the side panels are draped in a shade of white. The alloy wheels, though, come in a dark bronze finish. Apart from this, the scooter also gets yellow-coloured apron interior, floorboard and seat. Expect the production version to have toned-down colour schemes.
Features: The Ather EL01 will most likely get a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and a whole suite of connected features including voice assist, pothole alerts, parking safety alerts, riding modes, full-fledged navigation, and possibly smart cruise control too. There’s an all-LED lighting setup and a much more compact charging cable. There’s no hefty charging brick as Ather has figured out a way to integrate it into the scooter itself. This way, you simply need to carry a small charging cable, saving a lot of space. It will also get Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as standard.
Motor: The motor and performance specs of the scooter are yet to be officially revealed. That said, Ather gave a few details of the other EVs spawning from this platform. The light-weight sporty scooter will have a 2kWh battery pack, whereas the most premium maxi-style scooter will have a 5kWh battery pack. Expect the motor to be fairly powerful enough, with detuned versions of it in the more affordable models.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The scooter rolls on a 14-inch front and a 12-inch rear alloy wheel wrapped in tubeless tyres. It gets a telescopic fork and a single-sided rear shock absorber. The scooter also gets a front disc brake and a drum unit at the rear, with an Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) for better control as standard. This uses the electric motor to decelerate in addition to the traditional brakes.
Rivals: When launched, the production version of the Ather EL01 will rival the TVS Orbiter and the Ola S1X, Vida VX2 and the Bajaj Chetak 3001.
Variants: Based on the EL platform, there will be a compact, lightweight sporty scooter, a maxi scooter and the EL01 as a commuter. While the first product will be the affordable commuter e-scooter, expect others to be launched phase-wise later.
