Ather Konarc

The Ather Konarc is a family-oriented electric scooter, which is based on the brand’s EL-01 platform. It gets two variants – S & Z – with further battery-based sub-variants. The e-scooter looks quite appealing, and comes with a host of practical features.

Design: The design of this scooter is simple and it has a metal body. The scooter is available in four colour options: Quartz White + Blue, Majestic Grey + Black, Celestial Gold + Blue and Lumen Copper + Black, out of which the base variants only get Quartz White + Blue and Majestic Grey + Black.

Features: The S 100 km gets a 4.2-inch LCD console, while the S 125 km and S 161 km step up to a 7-inch LCD with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, and a USB charging port is standard. The mid and top variants also have Ather's new Airwalk feature, which senses movement and assists while walking the scooter, along with Autohold, Fallsafe, and Bluetooth-enabled call/text alerts and music controls. The Z variant packs in even more features, like a Magic Key with a proximity sensor that starts the scooter as soon as the side stand is lifted. It also tracks the key's last known location if misplaced. The Z gets a TFT console running Ather's Stack7 OS, featuring Smart Decision, which automatically starts navigation to frequently visited destinations; a Flyover Alert to simplify the navigation; and WhatsApp call control alongside regular call alerts. For practicality the scooter has a 2-litre glovebox cubby and 31 litres of boot space. Though, only the Z variant gets an AutoPop boot that lifts the seat open and can be unlocked through a button under the backrest. Ather has also added a centre stand on the Konarc, a feature which was missing on its other scooters.

Motor: The Z variant will come in two sub-variants with 125 km and 161 km IDC-claimed range and a claimed top speed of 80 kmph. Ather is yet to reveal further details on this variant. The scooter gets three ride modes: Smart Eco, which caps power and torque to maximise range; Eco, which strikes a balance between power output and range; and Power, which is tuned for outright performance. There’s also a variant with a 200 km range and a bigger battery, though its specs are yet undisclosed. Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The bike is equipped with a telescopic fork with 90 mm of travel and twin shocks with 100 mm of travel. It rolls on 14-inch front wheels with 220 mm disc brakes (S 100 km variant gets drum brakes at front) and 12-inch wheels with 130 mm drum brake with a combined braking system. The mid variant weighs 126.5 kg, whereas the top 161 km variant weighs 129 kg.

Rivals: The Ather Konarc rivals the TVS Orbiter, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida VX2.

Range: Konarc can go upto 161 km/charge after a full charge.

Variants: The S variant has four sub-variants: S 100km, S 125 km and S 161 km. The fourth, S 200 km variant is yet to be launched. Whereas the upcoming Z variant has two sub-variants: Z 125 km and Z 161 km.
