Expert's Opinion on e Access

Overview

Truly “Accessible”?

• The Suzuki eAccess is the Japanese auto giant’s first electric scooter for the Indian market.
• We had first seen it at Auto Expo 2025, and recently we finally rode it.
• For context though, we’ve only ridden this e-scooter on a go-kart track, so we won’t be able to give you feel for how it is like to ride in real-world conditions
• Also, at the time of writing this review, Suzuki hasn’t announced prices for the eAccess, so how it stacks up against other e-scooters in the Indian market remains to be seen

Design

Old school sporty

• The eAccess looks almost nothing like the Access 125, and has a distinct sporty flair
• The sloping front apron with the integrated turn indicators and the rectangular handlebar mounted LED headlight make it look like a sporty scooter from the 1990s, and that makes it feel really unique
• Both sets of LED turn indicators have a very distinct shape and look really great
• At the rear, the two-tone panels under the seat remind us a bit of the Hero Vida e-scooter
• The LED tail light has a very unique shape, which along with the rear turn indicators, makes the eAccess look really attractive from the rear
• We particularly loved the design of diamond cut alloy wheels, particularly on full display at the rear thanks to the single-sided swingarm. These add a serious premium touch to the scooter’s design
• The long vertical LED strip on the middle of the front apron looks like a bit of an overkill in terms of design
• The bog-standard mirrors too don’t gel too well with the overall sweeping lines of the eAccess
• Some might find that eAccess looks a little too small (although it doesn’t feel small once you sit on it)

Performance & Mileage

Urban runabout

• The eAccess feels reasonably quick up to about 50kmph, after which the performance starts tapering off. This should be adequate for most people when riding in the city
• If ridden normally, we believe that the eAccess should be able to manage a range of 75-80km on a full charge, which again should be enough for people who have a daily commute of about 30-40km.
• The throttle calibration on the eAccess feel particularly good, acceleration is smooth regardless how hard you open the throttle, and feels extremely predictable.
• The braking regeneration in Mode A and Eco is quite strong, and it’s actually possible to ride this scooter with minimum brakes in the city
• The best part is that no matter how hard you ride the eAccess, it does not derate performance until the battery’s SoC (State of Charge) reaches 10 percent
• The on-paper specs of the Suzuki eAccess aren’t that impressive
• With a 4.1kW mid-mounted motor the eAccess has a top speed of just 71kmph
• Even the claimed range of 95km on a full charge feels a bit lacking compared to other premium e-scooters in the market
• When riding the eAccess quickly on the go-kart track, we saw a range drop commensurate with about 0.5km per percent of battery charge. So that would mean, when ridden hard, you can expect only about 50km of range from the scooter.
• The “three” riding modes are a bit confusing - Mode A give you the full top speed of 71kmph with maximum regen, Mode B gives you the same top speed with the least regen and Eco gives you a limited top speed of 55kmph with maximum regen
• You can switch between Mode A and Eco, as well as Mode B and Eco on the fly. But to change from A to B requires you to come to a complete halt and hold down the mode button for a couple of seconds

Battery & Charging

Easy Charging

• The home charger is very well designed and has its own neat carrying bag, so that it won’t rattle around in the boot when you’re carrying it with you.
• Suzuki does offer fast charging with the eAccess, which can charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in 2 hours and 12 minutes
• Suzuki also says that they will have fast charger available at most of their larger dealerships in 30 cities quite soon, with other cities and town following shortly
• Suzuki decided to go with an LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery for the eAccess in order to give it a much longer battery life compared to other battery chemistries.
• The 3.07kWh battery pack is a bit small compared to its competition, and only offer a max claimed range of 95km on a full charge
• Home charging times are a bit on the higher side - 0 to 100 percent takes 6 hours and 20 minutes
• The LFP battery chemistry means the charge density is a bit lower compared to NMC (Nickle Manganese Cobalt) batteries, which makes the eAccess’ battery pack a bit large in size

Handling

Quick footed

• The eAccess is a nimble handler, and very eager to change direction
• At the same time, once it’s leaned over, it feels really stable - something we experienced and enjoyed on our ride on the go-kart track
• The brakes feel good too, with the front disc brake giving precise stopping power whenever you need it
• Even though the eAccess has a combined braking system, it’s still too easy to lock up the rear wheel if you just use the rear brake lever

Ride Quality

Meant for the family

• We couldn’t thoroughly test the eAccess’ ride quality as we only rode on a go-kart track.
• But over the few plastic speedbreakers which were placed on the track, the front telescopic suspension felt quite well settled
• The rear suspension felt quite firm on those speedbreakers, and would bounce you around if you rode over them too quickly.
• We believe that the rear ride quality should become better with a pillion on board

Comfort & Storage

The big easy

• The eAccess’ seat is quite large and can accommodate a large rider as well as a large pillion quite comfortably
• With a seat height of just 765mm, it’s quite easy for riders of most heights to get both their feet on the gound
• The seat cushioning too is slightly on the firmer side, which we think should make it great for longer commutes
• The floorboard also runs up the apron in the same way as the Burgman, so riders can plant their feet forward, like on a cruiser, and get comfortable that way.
• The floorboard space is a bit lacking if you want to carry a large backpack on it
• Even the underseat storage is quite underwhelming, and might barely fit a single half face helmet, or a few groceries.

Features

Built Basic

• The 4.2 inch colour TFT screen is very easy to read and legible even under harsh sunlight
• It also gets connectivity features such as Turn-by-turn navigation, weather alerts and call & message alerts
• The most unique feature the eAccess offers is its seat, which stays up once you open it. And to close it, you just lift it further to undo its retaining mechanism, and down it comes
• Reverse mode is a useful feature it gets
• We couldn’t test any of the connected features as the Suzuki Ride Connect app doesn’t list the eAccess as of yet
• Reverse mode is a bit fidgety to access - at a standstill, you need to hold the brake and push the power button for a couple of seconds, and then you need to turn the throttle in the opposite direction to move the scooter backwards.

Verdict

Should you buy the Suzuki eAccess?

• At this point, it’s a bit difficult to recommend the eAccess as prices aren’t out yet. In fact, a lot rides on the pricing of this eAccess. If Suzuki can keep the price at Rs 1.10 lakh of below, the eAccess might make sense as it offers decent performance, acceptable range and top-notch build quality and fit-and-finish
• However, if the price goes above Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), it might be very difficult to justify the eAccess, especially compared to some of the other premium eScooters in the Indian market
