Luxury and opulence meet sportiness as the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram series has been launched today in India at Rs 4.2 crore (ex-showroom). While traditionally, the Maybach badge has been synonymous with offering a royalty on wheels, the SL has long been an AMG-bred grand tourer sports car. This time around, we have an impressive collaboration of both in the form of this two-door roadster named, the SL 680. You can now book this car and expect deliveries to start from Q1 of 2026.
Just as this car stays true to its sporty pedigree, with a V8, it also upholds the lavishness of a Maybach tag. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this ultra-luxurious roadster truly special.
Design
The Maybach SL 680’s design holds to the philosophy of both its nameplate tags. While its major silhouette and bodystyle are similar to the sporty SL, it is dressed up in a lot of signature Maybach elements that scream the luxury it upholds. As for paint options, you can go vanilla or cherry with the two Opalite White and Garnet Red colours.
At the front, the LED headlights look sleek with eyebrow-like DRLs making it up for a menacing look. The Maybach-specific grille design and bumper bring a rich and premium look. The bonnet gets a contrasting black shade with multiple Maybach logos stamped all over and the tri-pointed star is mounted on it as well. You find the same in the lower bumper section too. Talk about attention to detail!
At the profile, it rides on large 21-inch alloy wheels, featuring the classic Maybach spoke design. The Maybach badging is also present on the soft-top roof, making it unique to this version.
At the rear, the LED taillights are similar to the standard SL, but what’s new here is the chrome exhaust tips and around the diffuser. The Maybach lettering is placed here as well.
Interior And Features
Step inside the cockpit of the SL 680 and you’ll notice that the dashboard layout is similar to the AMG model. However, this being the Maybach version, gets bespoke detailing and changes to gel along with the overall theme. For starters, the screens run on Maybach-specific graphics and the black/white theme screams luxury. The intricately designed AC vents mimic those of an aircraft’s turbine, while the Maybach logos embossed on the door pads take attention to detail a notch up.
As for features, it is equipped with a wealth of amenities like a vertically placed 11.9-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, steering-mounted controls, powered seats with memory function, a premium audio system and ambient light.
Powertrain
We have talked about all the luxurious bits. Now, let’s talk about the other aspect of this car – its exhilarating performance. Underneath that elongated hood is a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out a mighty output of 585 PS and 800 Nm. All of that is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Launch it properly and this can propel from nought to 100 kmph in just 4.1 seconds before maxing out at 259 kmph (electronically limited).
To aid handling, the SL 680 gets rear-wheel steering to ensure it’s agile when you’re hooning it around a twisted section of road.
Price And Rivals
The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram series is priced at Rs 4.2 crore (ex-showroom). It will compete with the likes of the Bentley Continental GT convertible, Bentley Mulliner, Audi RS e-tron GT and Lotus Emira.
For the rich who seek a bread of luxury while not cutting short on their driving thrill, the two-door convertible Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram is both butter and jam for that.
