Here’s a look at the most eye-catching F1 beasts that are set tp line up on the grid in 2020

Formula One is an ever-evolving form of motorsport that with each season, the cars differ in every way compared to their predecessors. With the season opener at Melbourne just 14 days away, pre-season testing is done and dusted. The 2020 challengers have either received a major revolution or a minor evolution in terms of design. With that, even their liveries have changed. But which one’s the sexiest of them all? Here’s every 2020 livery ranked from worst to best:

10. Renault F1 Team

Kicking off the list is Renault with the R.S.20. The reason why it’s at the bottom of the pile is due to its unimaginatively barren, all-black livery it ran during testing. It was also the only team that ran a testing livery and yet, it was pretty bare compared to the likes of Alfa Romeo or Red Bull Racing’s testing liveries from the past. Hopefully, the official livery turns out to be a decent one once it is revealed in Melbourne.

9. Scuderia Ferrari

Next up is Scuderia Ferrari, retaining its matte red scheme for the SF1000. Ever since the loss of Santander as its title sponsor after 2017, the cars from Maranello have sported a predominantly red body shade. Luckily, the 2018 car had the old-school glossy red that we all know and love. But since 2019, the folks from Maranello shifted to a matte paint scheme, which wasn’t particularly great on the car. While the 2019 car featured a few black accents, adding contrast to an otherwise very-red car, the 2020 car has gotten rid of most of that. Considering Ferrari will celebrate their 1000th F1 race this season, they could’ve done better.

8. Red Bull Racing

Over its 15-year period as a constructor, Red Bull Racing has been well known among the paddock for liveries that give a modern look to their cars. It was also the first team to adopt a matte paint scheme in 2016. But since then, their liveries have been relatively similar aside from minor tweaks. This year, it straight away revealed the car with a livery that looked nearly identical to the one used last season, bucking their tradition of radical testing liveries that are fan favorites.

7. Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team

Since its return to Formula One as a full-fledged works team in 2010, the silver arrows have always had relatively simple liveries. In 2019, however, they rocked up with a swanky livery that had a nice transition of silver to black around the sidepods. It also had three-pointed stars across the sidepods and engine cover. This year, there’s even a lone red star somewhere in there that pays tribute to legendary F1 driver, Niki Lauda, who passed away last year. New for this year are streaks of red around the front wing, airbox and rear wing thanks to its sponsorship deal with INEOS sports sailing and cycling team.

6. Alfa Romeo Racing

Alfa Romeo has always had some great looking machines ever since its return to Formula One as a title sponsor to Sauber in 2018 and then a full-fledged works team in 2019. This year, their car gets even more red combined with a white body and black accents.

5. Racing Point F1 Team

When the team was formerly known as Force India back in 2017, the acquisition of BWT as a title sponsor led to their cars sporting a pink body shade. It was instantly popular among the grid and was even nicknamed the Pink Panthers. Racing Point’s RP 20 is controversial in itself, with a near-identical resemblance to the 2019 championship-winning Mercedes W10. However, the only difference is the pink shade with white accents.

4. Haas F1 Team

With the team no longer sponsored by Rich Energy, the Haas VF 20 now sports a livery that’s pretty much similar to the one the team has used since 2016. This time though, it doesn’t sport any grey accents and has added more red and blacked-out accents to the car.

3. McLaren

Mclaren’s switch to its vintage papaya orange livery since 2018 has been a fan favorite. However, since 2019, they’ve been adding more and more blue around the car. And this year, they’ve taken it a step ahead. It is also the latest team to use a matte paint scheme on their car.

2. Williams

To call 2019 a disaster for Williams is not even an understatement. Not only was the car woefully slow, but its livery looked like it was a botched air brush job. Thankfully for this year, the car has a much better livery with a combination of red, white and blue. Funnily enough, this would be a good promotion for a certain toothpaste company considering the color combination.

1. Alpha Tauri

We finally get to the creme de la creme of 2020 F1 car liveries; the Alpha Tauri AT01. Formerly known as Toro Rosso, it is the junior team of Red Bull Racing. Alpha Tauri is also the name of Red Bull’s clothing line. The car sports a navy blue and white color combo that blends well with the car.
