Next-Gen Volkswagen Polo Will Be Based On MQB Platform

Seeing the mule car, it is clear that the hot hatch has definitely developed from the current version of the Polo. However, it is very early to comment on the design and the looks of the car since it is the latest test mule of this upcoming hot hatch.  

The upcoming Polo will be based on the MQB platform, which will help the car increase its rear space cabin. However, the wheelbase of the new Polo has been increased by around 90mm, creating a noticeable improvement in the rear cabin space. Overhangs at both the ends have been reduced a bit, which has reduced the car's overall length ever so slightly, despite an increase in the wheelbase. Also, thanks to the MQB platform, the new car is lighter than the current Polo.

Speaking of the engine, there are no such specifications given; but Volkswagen might introduce the 1.0-litre petrol engine. Also, as per reports, the new Polo will be powered by the latest TSI turbo petrol and TDI diesel engines (no specifications have been given). Recently in Nurburgring, the Polo GTI was spotted testing, which featured larger alloys, twin exhausts, and might have the updated 1.8-litre petrol unit.

Coming to the interiors, the new Polo will be loaded with the latest technology, which includes a 9.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrumental cluster, more safety features, and much more. The new Polo is said to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Let's see the features Volkswagen offers with the car when it hits Indian shores.
