MMRT Gears Up For Round 2 Of MMSC FMSCI National Racing Championship

The first round of the MMSC FMSCI National Racing Championship was conducted from June 9 to June 11, 2017 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The championship races were categorised on the basis of engine displacements and the extent of modification for improved performance. Apart from the national races, Honda and TVS conducted their one make championships and media races. 

The second round of the national championship will be conducted at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai from July 7 to July 9, 2017. For the first time in the history of the championship, FMSCI has included a two-wheeler drag race as well. A total of 19 races will be conducted over three days of the championship. In accordance with the automakers’ bid to increase participation of women in the sport, separate races for women will also be conducted.  

Our man, Amar Katkar, participated in the Young Media race program at Kari Motor Speedway. He secured podium finishes in all the qualifying races but hard luck, his first race got cancelled due to rains. The first race will be now conducted at the MMRT and we wish him luck. Chairman of the meet, Manoj Dalal, said, “We are very pleased with the response for the girls’ championship and we are hoping that the entries keep increasing through the season,”.
