MG Motor India will be taking the wraps off the Astor on September 15, 2021. Select dealers have commenced unofficial booking for a token of Rs 50,000. The Astor is MG’s answer to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
Though the Astor is late to the party, it will come with a host of segment-first features, including an AI-guided personal assistant and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). The latter bundles features like collision warning, lane-keeping/departure assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot detection.

Other notable features in the upcoming SUV include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (as standard), a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, LED headlamps with DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and ventilated front seats. Securing passenger safety will be multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and the ADAS suite.
MG has confirmed that the Astor will get a 6-speed automatic, likely with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit. An optional 6-speed manual could also be there. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will likely be limited to the entry-level trims.

More details on the Astor, including its launch timeline and trims, should be out on the day of the reveal. The compact SUV will likely be priced around Rs 10 lakh, making it one of the most affordable models in the country with autonomous driver-assistance features.
