The premium sub-4 metre SUV will be launched in February 2019

Update 14/02/2019: The Mahindra XUV300 has been launched at Rs 7.90 lakh, ex-showroom India. Here's why it is priced at a premium as compared to the Brezza, Nexon and EcoSport.

  • Booking amount ranges from Rs 5,000-Rs 11,000; expected to be priced in the Rs 8-12 lakh range.
  • The XUV300 will come loaded with premium features like dual-zone auto AC, seven airbags and a sunroof!
  • It will go head to head against segment leader Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.

It’s unofficial for now, but bookings for the much anticipated Mahindra XUV300 have begun across several cities, ahead of the compact SUV’s planned launch in February 2019. Expected to be priced between Rs 8-12 lakh, you can pre-book the XUV300 for an amount Rs 5,000 -Rs 11,000, depending on dealers in select cities such as Pune and Delhi. The deliveries are expected to begin towards the end of February or early March, 2019, depending on the colour and variant chosen.

The XUV300 is based on the X100 platform that underpins the Ssangyong Tivoli too. Although the XUV300 is different in terms of design, it shares a lot of components with its South Korean counterpart.

Hence, the XUV300 is likely to be one of the better equipped cars in its segment with features like sunroof, dual-zone auto AC, 7 airbags and all-four disc brakes.

The XUV300 will be offered with both diesel and petrol engines. And while Mahindra hasn’t confirmed it yet, we expect it to get the 1.5-litre diesel unit borrowed from the Marazzo (121PS/300Nm). As for the petrol engine, it will likely feature a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor, which is being co-developed with SsangYong.

In addition, it could be the same powertrain that Mahindra will also supply to Ford as a part of its partnership. It will come mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, and while an automatic transmission won’t be offered at launch, we expect Mahindra to add it later.

We would be driving the all-new Vitara Brezza and Ecosport rival soon, so stay tuned for the in-depth review and more updates on the XUV300.
