There’s a big boy among the raging bulls. It’s called the Urus, and it goes on sale in India tomorrow. Contrary to popular belief, the Urus is Lamborghini’s second SUV. The first, called the LM002, debuted way back in 1986.

The Urus looks quintessentially Lamborghini. This means it’s got razor-sharp body lines, angry looking LED headlamps and gorgeous 23-inch wheels. The trademark trapezoidal theme continues over into the interior as well, which is home to a plethora of tech - including three different screens, one each for the instrument cluster, infotainment and the air-conditioning. The Urus is also practical - it can accommodate four six-footers with ease. Dial in the massive 616-litre boot, and you can realistically head out for a roadtrip in this Lambo.

Powering the Urus is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 650PS of power and 850Nm of torque. That’s enough to give it the title of the fastest SUV in the world. Top speed is rated at 305kmph, whereas 0-100kmph comes up in just 3.6 seconds. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Urus also gets additional drive modes - Terra (Off-road), Sabbia (Sand) and Neve (Snow) over the usual Strada (Road), Sport, and Corsa (Track). Notable highlights include rear-wheel steering and adaptive dampers.
Lamborghini’s SUV is expected to be priced around the Rs 3 crore mark. Deliveries, however, will begin only next year. While there's no direct rival in terms of performance, the Urus will go up against the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the Range Rover SVR.
