Following the unveiling of the D-Max Space-Cab at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year, Isuzu has finally launched the car. The D-max will be made available in three trims, with two cabin options and two deck options. The D-Max Single cab will be made available in flat deck while the D-Max Space cab will be on sale in both flat deck as well as arched deck variants.
The Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder intercooled turbocharged diesel mill that churns out 135PS at 3,600rpm and 294Nm of torque at 1800-3200rpm. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, the D-Max has the capacity to carry a load of 1.2 tons.
Built with primary as a Utility Vehicle, the D-Max doesn’t flaunt a lot of features and is in fact bare to the bone with black bumpers, door handles and ORVMs. In the top of the line arched deck trim however, the D-Max sports a chrome grille, body coloured bumpers, power windows, central locking and steering rake adjust. The D-Max Space cab also gets extended cabin space of 1.5 feet behind the driver’s seat. While the top end trim has the creature comforts it is available just with an arched deck as opposed to cheaper base variant that hosts the flat deck for increased space.

India being one of the largest and the fastest growing markets for Commercial Vehicles Isuzu plans to expand its network. Aside from opening dealerships in Mumbai, the Japanese manufacturer will also be opening dealerships in Pune and Nasik this year and then expand further to nearly 60 outlets in across India. As of now, Isuzu has its presence mainly in the South Indian states including Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Madurai, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati & Cochin.
The D-Max single cab will be available at an introductory price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai. The Space cab variant and the flat deck variant will be on sale at Rs 6.19 lakh and Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) respectively.
