Audi has just put even more power into its already ballistic RS7 Avant and RS7 4-door coupe. Although the engine stays the same, the boffins at Ingolstadt have managed to wrench out 45PS more power from its 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8 engine. The TFSI engine is now rated at 605PS of peak power and 750Nm of peak torque and the new variants have been christened the ‘Performance’ versions.

The new Performance editions have also been equipped with an optional dynamic package which bumps the top speed of the car from 250kmph to 280kmph. Both cars now also do the 0-100kmph sprint 0.2-seconds faster than before at 3.7-seconds as compared to 3.9-seconds earlier. That said, the engine continues to feature the cylinder on demand (COD) system, so whenever the car is under part load it will run on just four of the cylinders to save fuel.

The RS6 Avant and the RS7 4-door coupe also gets a new and revised version of the 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels through Audi’s Quattro setup. The new setup sends 60% of the power to the rear wheels and 40% of power to the front wheels but can vary depending on the levels of grip and speed. The cars also get an adaptive air suspension setup that allows a 20mm drop in the car’s ride height.

In terms of styling, not much has really changed apart from the sportier front bumper with bigger air inlets along with a glossy black honeycomb grille while the back hosts a more aggressive diffuser. Expect these version to make their way to India very soon.
