After Aston Martin gave us a glimpse of its upcoming V12 Speedster a month ago, the carmaker has finally unveiled the two-seater open cockpit sports car. Created under 12 months of development by the carmaker’s bespoke customisation service ‘Q by Aston Martin’, the V12 Speedster takes plenty of cues from old and current Aston Martin vehicles and will be limited to just 88 units worldwide.
The main talking point about the V12 Speedster is that it truly follows an open cockpit policy with no roof and no windshield either. In fact, the driver and passenger seats are split by a spar in the middle. It takes design inspiration from three open-cockpit cars - the 1959 24 Hours of LeMans-winning DBR1, the Centenary CC100 Concept showcased in 2013 and the 1953 DB3S.

Other design highlights include 21-inch wheels and carbon ceramic brakes. The interior upholstery consists of a mix of materials like leather, chrome, aluminum, and 3D-printed rubber. Despite its design, it can still be quite practical with a removable leather bag in place of a conventional glove box and a couple of cargo areas in the twin humps behind the seats.
As the name suggests, it is powered by a 5.2-litre V12 twin-turbo engine delivering 700PS of power and 753Nm of torque. All this power will be sent to the rear wheels via a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission to propel it from 0-100kmph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 300kmph. The carmaker has stayed true to the claim that the V12 Speedster will be a driver-focused car. It gets bits like independent double wishbone front suspension, and multi-link rear suspension with coil springs and adaptive damping offering Sport, Sport+ and Track modes.
The V12 Speedster retails at a price tag of 765,000 pounds (Rs 7.23 crore) with deliveries set to begin around early 2021. It will also be a limited run vehicle, with only 88 units being produced.
