The facelifted Dzire gets a nip and tuck as well as Maruti’s new 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine

Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelifted Dzire with prices starting from Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Dzire gets a minor nip and tuck as well as a more powerful 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine. Maruti has also used this opportunity to throw in a few more kit to make it more appealing. Here are five important highlights:

What’s New On The Outside?

At first glance, the facelifted Dzire looks largely similar to the standard model. A closer look reveals a tweaked front grille and an updated bumper with new fog lamp housings. Meanwhile, the side profile and rear end remain largely unchanged, which is no bad thing. Here's a detailed comparison of how the 2020 Dzire looks when compared to the pre-facelift Dzire.

Inside, the facelifted Dzire’s cabin is largely similar to the current model. The only bits that are new are the wood inserts which are now finished in a lighter shade. Also new is the updated SmartPlay 7.0-inch infotainment system.

Any New Features?

Yes,  the facelifted Dzire packs new kit like cruise control, a coloured multi-info display and electronic stability control. Features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry with push button start and LED headlamps have been retained. On the safety front, it comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. Automatic variants also come with a hill-start assist function.

The Main Change:

The main change is under the hood. The Dzire now comes with Maruti’s new 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine that develops 89PS of power and 113Nm of torque. While it misses out on a 12v mild-hybrid system seen in the Baleno, the Dzire’s unit comes with start-stop functionality. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine has been discontinued from the lineup as it will not be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms.

Signing The Cheque:

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is priced from Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It locks horns with the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and VW Ameo.
