The new Creta has crossed the 10,000 bookings mark, and it hasn’t even been launched yet!

UPDATE: Hyundai India will now launch the 2020 Creta on March 16
  • The 2020 Hyundai Creta is based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos.
  • Hyundai offers the new Creta with three engine and four gearbox options.
  • You can choose between five variants: E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O).
  • Prices are expected to start from Rs 10 lakh.

It seems like the 2020 Hyundai Creta has already found a place in the heart of Indian car buyers. Hyundai has announced that the new Creta has crossed the 10,000 bookings mark a week ahead of its launch on March 17. We already know what to expect from the new Creta and from what we know so far, it is set to put up a good fight against the Kia Seltos and the Tata Harrier.

The latest iteration of the popular Creta is based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos. The Creta also features a new design language that’s polarising, to say the least. There are five variants on offer: E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O). Like the Seltos, you will be spoilt for choice as the Creta gets three engine and four gearbox options.

Engine options include the Kia Seltos’ 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units as well as the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor. The latter develops a solid 140PS of power and 242Nm of torque and comes mated to a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is good enough for 115PS/144Nm and can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The oil burner develops 115PS and 250Nm coupled to a 6-speed manual or automatic.

The cabin will be offered in two colour options. Variants equipped with either of the 1.5-litre engine will get a black-beige theme while the ones with the turbo-petrol motor get an all-black theme with red highlights. The new Creta is well equipped too, with higher variants getting a panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, BlueLink connected car technology, cruise control, wireless charging pad, drive modes, and a digital instrument cluster.

The only missing link in this puzzle is the price, which will be revealed on March 17. We expect Hyundai to pitch it aggressively with a starting price of around Rs 10 lakh.
