2016 Hyundai Tucson

One of India’s largest automobile manufacturers Hyundai has taken the covers off the much-awaited Tucson SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo on Wednesday. After its debut in the Indian markets here in Greater Noida, the car will be launched in the country later this year.

The Tucson is built on a new platform that offers larger cabin space. Sporting a muscular appearance, this forthcoming Hyundai Tucson receives a distinctive chrome-framed hexagonal grille, narrow headlights and bulging wheel arches. On the rear end, the SUV will get boomerang-shaped tail lamps. The AWD version of Tucson is also expected to be introduced to the Indian market as the SUV will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Hyundai currently offers two SUVs in the form of the Creta and Santa Fe in India, while this new offering could be placed somewhere between these two segments. Here, the Hyundai Tucson will have to battle it out with the likes of the Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and will soon be joined by the Volkswagen Tiguan and Renault Koleos.

The first generation of the Tucson was sold in India during 2005-2010, but it was discontinued due to poor sales. Hyundai is likely to import the new Tucson initially with a starting price of approximately Rs 18 lakh.
