Jeep India has launched a new variant of its top-of-the-line SUV model, the Grand Cherokee, called the Signature Edition. Available at Rs 81.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the new edition costs a premium of Rs 1.54 lakh more than the regular Limited (O) variant.
So, what do you get extra for your hard-earned cash? Let's see!
The Grand Cherokee's traditional Jeep stance, bold and upright and unabashedly American charm, is intact. But the Signature Edition has one notable addition: motorised side steps. They power in and out with the touch of a button, entering and exiting that now feels more like getting into an upscale club than climbing up into an SUV.
Subtle? Perhaps. Practical and sophisticated? Certainly.
Those in the back now have their own piece of virtual heaven with dual 11.6-inch Android-based displays. These are not your typical flip-down TVs; they are full entertainment systems with high-resolution IPS displays, speakers, and WiFi, Bluetooth, and aux capability.
Every screen operates independently, meaning your children can watch cartoons and you can binge crime shows in peace. It's a feature more normally associated with far more expensive luxury sedans or SUVs and could easily make this Grand Cherokee the most enjoyable second-row experience in its segment.
Aside from the added comfort, Jeep’s also made a smart move by integrating front and rear dash cameras as standard on the Signature Edition.
These aren’t just for post-accident evidence; they provide 360-degree coverage and peace of mind on road trips, urban commutes, and everything in between.
Under the bonnet, the Signature Edition continues with the same configuration as the Limited (O) variant. That is the tried and tested 2-litre turbo-petrol motor paired with an 8-speed auto transmission, as well as Jeep's Quadra-Trac 4x4 system. It's comfortable on asphalt and versatile off it, a combination that has long been a Grand Cherokee strength.
So there's no additional power on offer, but what you do get is a more comfortable, luxurious ride and passenger experience. And that ties in nicely with the Signature Edition's remit, enhancing the dynamics rather than altering the basics.
The Grand Cherokee Signature Edition is available at Rs 81.54 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a straight Rs 1.54 lakh over the Limited (O) variant. For the extra features and comfort, it is a reasonable price to pay, especially if you are someone who spends considerable time being chauffeured instead of driving.
Deliveries start June 13, 2025, across Jeep showrooms in India. This limited edition will be in limited quantities and thus more of a collector's pick.
