Private buyers can’t own this one just yet

You may not instantly place the name ‘Build Your Dreams’, but the electric bus maker has been in India since 2007. Now, BYD has introduced its latest offering in the form of the e6, India’s first all-electric MPV, at Rs 29.15 lakh. But the bummer is that you can’t own it, as the carmaker is retailing it B2B, which means only business fleet orders are applicable.

It’s electric motor puts out a modest 95PS and 180Nm, and it has a top speed of 130kmph.

But what it lacks in power, the e6 makes up for in range, thanks to the 71.2kWh battery pack, which has a WLTC-claimed range of 520km and 415km within the city and on the highway, respectively. The MPV supports both AC and DC chargers; the latter (fast charger) can take it from 30 to 80 percent in 35 minutes. The battery pack is replenished via regenerative braking as well. Shell out Rs 45,000 extra, and you’ll get a 7kW AC wall charger when you buy the e6.

Technical specs aside, the e6 MPV feels MPV, featuring a long boy stance and a flat tailgate. Some key elements include a unique front grille mesh, LED DRLs, and LED tail lamps. Inside, it can seat up to five people and boasts a 580-litre boot. It is also loaded with kit such as a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth and wifi connectivity , 6-way adjustable leather-wrapped seats, and a CN95 air filtration system.
