So far, curtain airbags were limited to the top-spec HTX+, GT Line and X Line trim levels

  • Seltos was updated with standard front side airbags earlier this year.

  • Stability control, hill assist and rear disc brakes are also standard.

  • Features and powertrains are unchanged.

  • New Seltos costs between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.65 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).

  • Kia Sonet could also get this update soon.

The Kia Seltos now gets six airbags as standard across all variants in a new update that’s accompanied by a price hike. Most of the SUV’s top-spec safety features, such as electronic stability control (ESC) and rear disc brakes, are now offered right from the base HTE variant.

New safety update for Kia Seltos

With the latest update, the Kia Seltos has gained curtain airbags in addition to the dual front and front side airbags that were already part of the standard safety kit. In addition, the Seltos also offers standard stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes and a highline tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Other than the Seltos, the Kia Carens is the only other vehicle in the price segment that offers six airbags as standard. Dual front airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors are the minimum government-mandated safety requirements for all vehicles in India for now. Later this year, new norms are expected to make six airbags mandatory in the country
