Is Ferrari Investor-Backed Ultraviolette Making A Scooter For Europe?

Ultraviolette Automotive, a Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has gained significant attention after their recent expansion in the European market. The brand has previously raised funding from one of the biggest investors in Ferrari. 

Expansion Into The European Market

Ultraviolette has had an exciting start in Europe with the launch of the F77 Mach 2 electric motorcycle. In October 2024. The manufacturer secured the L3e certification under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regulations, making the F77 Mach 2 road-legal in over 40 countries, which also includes the European Union. In Europe, the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is available in two variants: Standard and Recon, with an introductory price of €9,990. Initial shipments to Europe commenced last year, UV showcased new concept X also along with F77 Mach2 at the EICMA 2024 motorshow in Milan, Italy. 

Backed By Ferrari’s Investors!

Ultraviolette has grown exponentially with the help of investments from prominent entities in Europe. Back in 2022, EXOR N.V., the holding company of Ferrari, invested in Ultraviolette, which shows their confidence in the company's product lineup,  technology, and business model.  The new Ultraviolette scooter is rumoured to be developed jointly with Ferrari and its unveil is highly anticipated along with other possible exciting new products - maybe even as soon as the 5th of March at Ultraviolette’s ‘Fast Forward 2025’ event in Bangalore! Since they also make the formidable F99, the fastest Indian motorcycle, one can only wonder what records Ultraviolette will break with the new scooter - which in fact, already looks rather sporty from the few images we’ve seen yet.

Product Range

Ultraviolette's product lineup includes the F77 Mach 2 and the F77 Superstreet electric motorcycles. Both motorcycles are available in two variants: Standard and Recon. The Standard variant features a 7.1 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 211km, with the Recon variant offering a 323km range from a 10.3 kWh battery pack. The motorcycles have a claimed top-speed of 155kmph and offer three ride modes: Glide, Combat, and Ballistic. 

The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is a supersort with clip-on handlebars made to deliver a sporty and aggressive riding posture to attack corners. While the F77 SuperStreet is a street-oriented version of the F77 Mach 2, featuring an upright riding posture and comfortable ergonomics for long-distance riding.

Is Ultraviolette making a scooter for Europe?

In addition to its electric motorcycles, Ultraviolette is also exploring new segments. It includes the possibility of a brand-new electric scooter specifically developed for the European market. The company has not yet released all details. With all the funds raised, especially from Ferrari’s backing company, Ultraviolette targets being a prominent electric two-wheeler brand in Europe. 

The new electric scooter will be a great addition to Ultraviolette’s existing product line for Europe. The scooter segment in Europe is quite matured as compared to India. There’s a significant demand for big scooters, especially those that are more powerful and have a long range. Catering to this segment, with an electric scooter, using all the technological expertise Ultraviolette has gained over the years in India will surely help them make a lasting mark globally. 

What The Future Holds

Ultraviolette Automotive’s future looks electrifying to say the least. With their expansion into the European market, along with investments from EXOR N.V. and others, the company is set to become a formidable player in the global electric vehicle industry. As things are going, it doesn’t seem like we’ll have to wait too long to find out - the ‘Fast Forward 2025’ event in Bangalore should give us some very exciting stuff to look forward to from India’s home grown performance EV brand.
