Ahead of its launch in January 2022, Skoda India has started production of the facelifted Kodiaq at its plant in Aurangabad. The upcoming premium SUV will be a petrol-only offering.

It will get a 190PS/320Nm 2-litre turbo-petrol instead of the 150PS/340Nm 2-litre diesel engine. It is a four-wheel drive and paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, the same as the current model.

Now, to the design updates. The redone grille is wider and gets chrome slats, and the slimmer LED headlamps and new bumper round off the changes at the front. The SUV should get redesigned alloy wheels. At the rear, slimmer LED tail lamps and a redesigned bumper complete this makeover.

Inside, a notable update comes in the form of Skoda’s latest two-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard layout is the same, and by the looks of it, the facelifted SUV seems to retain the black-beige interior colour scheme as well. We also expect some new features onboard the 2022 Kodiaq, including 10-colour ambient lighting and an updated 12-speaker Canton sound system.

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner petrol and the recently facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan. Prices could start from around Rs 35 lakh.
