Skoda India’s top boss, Zac Hollis, has tweeted out that the facelifted Kodiaq will be launched in the country in January 2022. Unlike the pre-facelift model that was an oil burner, the facelifted SUV will be a petrol-only offering. It will be brought to India as a completely knocked down (CKD) model.

Most of the styling updates are concentrated on the front, which includes a reworked grille, bumper and slimmer LED headlamps. This makes the Kodiaq look sleeker to look at. In contrast, styling updates to the side and rear profile are limited to new alloy wheels and reworked LED tail lamps.

Inside, the changes are limited to new upholstery and trim options. The SUV also boasts Skoda’s new twin-spoke steering wheel that can be found in its latest offerings like the Kushaq and Octavia.

In terms of features, the Kodiaq could pack additional niceties like 10-colour footwell LED ambient lighting, an updated 12-speaker Canton sound system, and probably front seats with ventilated, heating and massage functions. Other bits like the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, and digital driver’s display should be present.
Passengers should be secured by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors with camera, and electronic stability control.

Powering the facelifted Kodiaq is the 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, driving all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. For context, the pre-facelift Kodiaq came with a 148PS 2-litre diesel engine.

The new Skoda Kodiaq is likely to be priced from Rs 34 lakh, putting it in the same ballpark as the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Toyota Fortuner petrol.
