India-spec model to get petrol and diesel engines.

Back in May 2022, Hyundai had revealed that the fourth iteration of the Tucson SUV will arrive in India towards the second half of the year. And now, we’ve got confirmation that Hyundai’s flagship SUV in India will break cover on July 13.

First showing up in markets abroad in September 2020, the 2022 Tucson is worlds apart from its predecessor, thanks to its debuting Hyundai's ‘Parametric Dynamic’ design language. This translates to sharp and sporty lines and creases, a bold Parametric slatted front grille, vertically stacked DRLs, split LED headlights, dual-tone alloy wheels and snake-fang connected tail lamps.

As aggressive as the 2022 Tucson is on the outside, it's equally modern and minimalist inside. The India-spec model should come with a host of features like a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose sound system, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety kit should include multiple airbags and more importantly ADAS, which would make it the first Hyundai in India to get it.

We’re yet to know what will power this SUV in India, but the model sold abroad leaves you spoilt for choice with petrol, diesel and plug-in-hybrid options. For India, we could get petrol and diesel motors for a start at least.

Prices for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson could start from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The premium midsize SUV will have the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Citroen C5 Aircross for company in India.
