Unofficial bookings open for the flagship electric SUV are underway at select dealerships for a token amount of Rs 10 lakh. Keep in mind you have to bear a cancellation charge of Rs 2 lakh if you change your mind. If you are planning to book one, here is an in-depth overview of the SUV for you.
The India-spec Kia EV9 will be equipped with a 99.8 kWh battery pack that powers dual motors that churn out 384 PS and 700 Nm. With this setup, it has an ARAI-claimed range of 561 km. The EV9 supports fast charging capabilities, topping up from 10 to 80 per cent in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger. It also has Vehicle To Load (V2L), allowing you to power small appliances using the charge from the vehicle’s battery pack.

The Kia EV9 features several modern amenities such as a triple screen setup with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 5-inch climate control display. Alongside, it also gets power-adjustable seats for all three rows, digital IRVM, smartphone-based unlocking (Digital Key) and ambient lighting.

The cabin of the premium electric SUV features black-and-beige-themed upholstery. It is offered in a 6-seater variant with captain seats in the 2nd row. The 2nd-row seats also have an 8-way power-adjust option with massage function and under-thigh support.

For passenger safety, the electric SUV is equipped with 10 airbags and level-2 ADAS features like forward collision avoidance assist, blind collision avoidance assist and high-beam assist.
Prices for the Kia EV9 are yet to be officially announced by the carmaker on October 3, 2024. Considering that it will be a fully imported model, you can expect it to cost around the Rs 1 crore mark (ex-showroom). Being a full-size SUV it will rival the premium Indian SUVs like the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
