  • Q. What is the reason for a loud thud sound when shifting gears on Duke 250? Anyone facing the same problem?

The thud sound is due to gear shifter not in sync with the gear sprocket. To a certain extent, this can be avoided by adjusting the chain. However a little bit of that sound would remain after running the motorcycle for few hundred kilometers. It is not harmful to the engine. Suggest you to adjust chain, clean and l**e it every 500 kms for a smooth ride.

  • Q. While taking pickup my KTM duke 250 is lagging means feel like fuel is not reaching to engine and is about to stop(only in 1st 2nd gear). My D250 does have a linear pull and I've never experienced this. Try modulating accelerator twists and be on the right gear to control any fueling issues. Else, it needs a detailed check at the service center.Chain - sprocket failure could either be a defective unit (get this replaced under warranty for free) OR could be because of someone attempting some stunts regularly on the new bike during run-in period (avoid changing hands for bike during the initial period). This could also lead to some engine rpm issues, leaving the rider experience faulty gear changes and engine-missing knocking etc.

  • Q. Does it have Heating problems?

Every small capacity KTM sold in India is a high speed single cylinder emitting a lot of heat. However, it will not be a major issue if one is wearing a jeans and a pair of ankle shoes. No unusual heating issues in Duke250. It of course will emit a lot of heat. Believe me, I ride in hot Chennai summers and still the bike did not burn my legs.

Assuming that the owner will be careful from day one in using the bike, considering that the ownership will be around 10yrs, following will be the choice of motorcycle in the order of reliability : 1. CB300R, Duke 250, Dominar 400

Yes it is definitely value for money. Even if I compare it against the Duke200, a Duke250 is tremendous value of money. The price difference is approx INR 8K. Compare Duke250 against any other motorcycles in similar category or a level above. The features and tech are highly advanced.
