Kawasaki Eliminator 400

The Kawasaki Eliminator 400cc cruiser was unveiled at the Osaka Motor Show. Here are five things you must know about it. While the Eliminator is back, this time around it is based on the Kawasaki Ninja 400. In fact, with 48PS at 10,000rpm, and 37.2Nm at 8000rpm on tap, it makes around 3PS and 0.2Nm more than the 400cc faired bike. For perspective, the Honda Rebel 500 makes 1.8PS less, and 6.1Nm more than the Eliminator.

The 400cc cruiser bike is built on a trellis frame with a 41mm telescopic fork, and twin preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers. Braking is via a 310mm front and a 240mm rear disc, both with twin-piston calipers. The cruiser rolls on 18-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels, wrapped with 130-section front and 150-section rear tubeless tyres. The bike is also fairly light for its class at 176kg kerb, and gets an easy-to-reach 735mm tall seat.

Kawasaki could launch the bike in India by 2023-end, possibly at a price tag of around Rs 5 lakh. In comparison, the Ninja 400 costs Rs 5.14 lakh, and the more expensive cruiser, the Kawasaki Vulcan S retails at Rs 6.40 lakh (all ex-showroom). While the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650’s arch nemesis, the Vulcan S is a lot more expensive, the Eliminator can be a closer rival to the Royal Enfield cruiser, especially for those who are looking for a multi-cylinder middleweight cruiser.
